Looks really amazing! :-) I'm tempted to try this kind of photography out at some stage, when I get a camera for it.

Hallo Eddie!

The so called "Snow-Effect" is coming from Infrared Filters on the lens or from converted Cameras. Tutorials of making off infrared shots you may find in the tutorial folder of r72 infrared group [link]

If you have an questions please ask!

Great! Thanks so much for the quick reply. I just picked up an r72 filter last week. I'll be testing it out more this weekend. I'm about to check that link out now.

Thanks Again,
Eddie

This really works, I like it.

I "Stumbled" it and found it in a post that said something like 30 great examples or i.r. photography, and then I clicked on the photo and it bounced me to another page that was 100 examples, etc., and from that one to here.

Good job, it looks like it's getting around.

I wonder if this is what the world would look like if we could see in the IR.

To "see in the IR" might look much different from this image which means you see visible light with all its colors plus the ir range of light.

What you see here in this photo is only the ir light. That means that the range of visible light is excluded by a strong ir filter on the lens.

Some color changes are made here because my very strong 950nm ir filter will just produce a near black + white (black and red or black and green - depending on your camera type) image.

If you look through a converted camera you will see the normal visible light plus infrared rays. But those pictures are not very "natural" for our eyes. This pictures have real "strange" colors...

Your question is real interesting!

Is your camera IR sensitive? Did you have it converted? Or did you just use an IR filter on reg cam? I have a canon 50D and does not pick up Ir lights... What effect would an Ir filter give me?

Canon often uses a strong ir blocking filter on the chip so you have to convert the camera or you have to make long time exposures with an IR Filter of about at least 30 seconds.

All your IR photographs are beautiful! I'd really love to get into IR photography, you get such rewarding results!

Did you use a converted camera for this shot? Or did you use a lens filter and long exposure?
