I have put an infrared filter on my lens to exclude all visible light. This produces photos where only the infrared light is reaching the chip. If you are interested you can read more here: [link]
The shutter speed is not depending so much on the different kind of ir filters. With my Sony I can make IR-Pics with 1/10, 1/20 or 1/30 second because the Sony F828 has a possibility to take away the inner ir-blocking-filter on the sensor.
In Canon- and Nikon-Cams and other this is not possible (as I know) except they are converted in to ir cameras.
So you have to go up to 30 seconds depending on the strength of the sunlight. But also with less seconds it will be a long time exposure. So some movements of the clouds and tree leaves are possible. The total sharpness or clearness may be lost in some way. But long time exposure could be also a very nice feature for the pic if you use it in a 'clever' dynamic way...
Thank you for your interesting comment! It shows very clear what you have in your mind!!!
For my opinion this picture is very good composed and tells a good story. It is just to have the ability of a little bit more fantasy and to be open minded for new things. May be your time will gonna come for some more fair views on other people works...
I`m not that type of man, which comments every image with: "Awesome", "Excellent!", "Brilliant work!". I write what I think and if I think that the image lacks something I will say that, because serious art/photography aren`t just birds and bees - you can accept my opinion or not, but that`s your problem and choice. Think a little bit - if it were just a regular shot - green grass and trees, blue sky, and brown horses, would it be interesting? I think - not. I think that would be just an average and a little boring horse/landscape shot which are so many in those galleries.
I appreciate very much comments which have more information than this general words like"awesome" and "nice" or "excellent"! And you should write what you think if you don't hurt others with it - no problem.
And you got the point:
>>...if it were just a regular shot - green grass and trees, blue sky, and brown horses, would it be interesting? I think - not.<<
But the art is here to make things visible which are impossible to see with your normal view. Infrared rays are invisible for our eys. And suddenly a magic world appears - the "normal" has changed. That's my point.
I have no problem with that if we don't come to the same opinion. Magic is magic and real is real. Please try to discover some more magic things in your world and you will win a lot.

But it lacks composition and story - it looks cool only because it`s IR.
Of course, it`s only my thoughts...
